Kind of late to the party on this but my 06 CD did the same thing. I was still under warranty when it happened and VW replaced it. They sent it off and a new one was sent back to the dealership and installed. They claimed that these are difficult to repair depending on what exactly is the problem. They were able to retrieve the CD that was in the unit at the time and return it as well.
