NO rust?? I find that hard to believe, unless it's from Arizona..

Look at the heater channels, inside the wheel wells, the frame header, the front beam.

Then again, maybe you got really lucky.

Cool

That is SO cool...I recomend a book that resembles the title " The Volkswagen Manual for the Complete Idiot"...

I had this manual when I owned some air-cooleds and it was invaluable when coming to understanding and repairing my Volkswagen...

I'll second that book. The full title is " How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive: A Manual of Step-by-Step Procedures for the Compleat Idiot" by John Muir.

Great book! I've got an older edition, and it should be in every Air-cooled VW owners car!

Congrats!...great car! My first "brand new" car was a '67 Beige when I was first married (I guess that dates me!) and it lasted many years and many, many miles. I lived by Muir's "Compleat Idiot" book and it saved my butt many times. Hope you have a long and rewarding relationship!

Congratulations! 67 is a really cool year! (I got one too)Here are some tips.
Check the oil and change it often
replace old cracked fuel lines and make sure they are clamped on the pressure side (after the fuel pump)
check around for brake leaks around the back of the wheels
check the fan belt for cracks if cracked replace it
read up on the book above and try to meet some vintage vw folks around town for help keeping the bug alive
can't wait to see the pics!

Patience. Expect oil spots.
No rust spots does not mean NO rust. You will be surprised at where you will find rust.

Did you look under the rear seat? Did you see the battery area? That sort of space often has rust.
