one pipe left to go!
I HAVE JUST FINISHED RE-INSTALLING MY 1600 ENGINE BACK INTO MY 1973 SUPERBEETLE CABRIOLET AND HAVE NOTICED THAT THE PIPE THAT EXITS FROM THE BACK OF THE CARB THAT APPEARS TO SUCK AIR HAS NO HOSE ATTATCHED!, CAN ANYBODY LET ME KNOW WHAT THE HOSE IS AND WERE IT GOES AS THERE WASN'T EVER A HOSE THERE AND IN MY MAINTENANCE MANUAL IT ISNT SHOWN? DOES IT GO TO THE ADVANCE RETARD LINE FOR THE IGNITION?

You don't by have a picture of the hose you are talking about do you? Do you have a vac. advance distributor? It could be the line for that.

My '68 has a vac hose attachment for vac advance distrubutor. I have a new distributor, so I blocked the vac hose line. Check your distributor and see if you have vac adavnce or electrical adavnce (you will see a small cylinder on the side of the distr).
