Default Where were you?

Well, I'm here watching the Daytona 500 and I just realized that its been 5 years since Earnhart's death. I will admit, I was not a fan of his at all but I dont ever want a driver to be injured and especially not killed in the sport, no matter my opinion of them. I remember even crying when I heard the news. Even though I wasnt a fan, he made the sport exciting and he was a very talented driver.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone remember where they were when they heard the news?

I was at a good friend's house and my parents called there to tell me what had happened...my friend's dad was an Earnhart fan. We were all just in disbelief.

My family and I were in Bethlehem PA at a large family gathering. The party was breaking up and I saw the crash on T.V. as I was getting my coat on.

Did not seem to be any more violent then normal, so we got in the car and drove home. When I put on the news that night, I was in complete shock.

What was weird is that at the begining of that years race, the camera's focused on Dale and his family (his wife and son Jr.) doing a pre-race prayer together. Then he kissed his wife and climbed into the car.

Get the chills thinking about it...
