My pride and joy was a 1974 VW THING, in dark green, that I purchased new for $2,800 cash! I installed a full cage roll-bar, custom exhaust, Jackman white spoke 4x4 rims, 2 barrel Holy carb, 09 distributor, aluminum power pully, full interior carpet kit, Empi shifter and a custom cassette player with four speakers. My Thing was a fun car to drive and we took many vacations driving it from Southern, California to Southwest Missouri and back through Colorado, Utah and Nevada! I sold it in 1977 for $1,800 and it was immaculate, like new! Even an old one in poor shape sells for about $7,000 or more! I wish I still had it!

I bought a used 1971 Bug for my teenage Son in 1986 and it was really clean and stock. About six months later, he pulled out from a stop sign and got T-boned on the passenger side! To much damage for the insurance company to repair so they settled and I bought it from them as a project car. I bought a
"Meyers Manx" type fiberglass dune buggy car kit with all the trimmings and fabricated a fantastic road and desert vehicle!

I rebuilt the engine with a "Mahale" big bore, piston and liner kit, HP camshaft and ratio rocker arms, ported dual port heads, dual Kadron 40mm carbs, 09 distributor, power pulley, custom single exhaust, new close ratio-drag race 4 speed trans and a HP clutch. I put a larger 6 qt sump and oil cooler on at the same time.

The car turned out to be a blast to drive! It would very easily outrun any street corvette for about an eighth of a mile! I drove it for years on and off-road! I miss it too!

My Dad bought a new 1963 1300 VW bug to drive to work. It was white with a tan interior and it too was a very neat car. He kept it for a few years and didn't loose much money when he sold it.

He also had a new 1971 VW 411. It was green and I believe it was a four door. It was loaded with air, auto and a nice stereo. It also had fuel injection and once it got off the line, it really moved!

My new 2008, S coupe is a keeper! I love Volkswagens!

We also had a new 1986 water cooled Vanagon-Very nice and expensive V dub! Sam:D
