I am looking to buy a TDI Beetle. I have 3500 dollars. Location is not an issue. I'm not picky. Any takers? Thank you!

I hate to break it to you... but $3500 isn't going to cut it unless it's a salvage TDi with HUGE milage. :(

Not happening to be honest. You may be able to find a cheap 2.0 for that price, but definitely not a TDI.

High mileage won't make much of a difference. You will be really lucky if you find one for less than 6000 that isn't broken. If you're only looking to spend 3500, maybe you should try an older model VW diesel. You might be able to find some Gen 1 or 2 jetta or golf diesels for about that range. High mileage should not be a problem, since they run forever with good care.

best of luck, even the '98s I've seen are $8,000, you might get very lucky with a private seller in the newspaper or on craigslist.

I've seen nice (old early '80s) Rabbit diesels bring this lately--there is no way you'll find a NB TDI for this, sorry, but your price is totally unrealistic.

Hey! Someone is trying to sell my car for $3,500 dollars on craigslist.. So if you're looking on there, be careful!!

But honestly, you're not going to find a TDI Beetle for that cheap.. Are you not interested in anything else but TDI?

I'm not going to say it's not possible, as my dad bought one last year for $4K, but it definitely is unlikely.

$3500 won't get you a TDI. Diesels are running at a huge premium, especially with the gas prices skyrocketing like they are and because so many are wanting them to run biodiesel in. If I could get one for that little, I would have one now!

You can get them for good deals but good luck finding one under $6k. There is a 2000 TDI for sale in the Raleigh area with under 100k on it for $7500. Thats about as good of a deal as you're gonna get. You can get them a tad cheaper but the miles are through the roof.

Actually, I've seen numerous nice Beetle TDI's for that price, but they are gone in a flash! I'm never quick enough.

ive been looking for a regular, gas-running, automatic in black (also hoping for leather, heated seats) with under 90,000 miles and i have a $5000-6000 budget and even that has been extremely hard. any TDI that i have come across has never been under the $10-11,000 range. in order to find any TDI under $5,000, it will either have a ton of miles, have been in an accident (having a salvage title) or have something else wrong with it. so if you do happen to find one, i would highly suggest that you do NOT buy it without seeing it first. you don't want to buy one from across the country and have it get there with no engine in it. also, if you do happen to find a deal within the range that you are looking for, receive as much information as you can about the person you are planning to purchase the car from because a deal like that usually points to an attempted scam. i've seen a friend fall for one (she found a 2004 honda accord with 50,000 miles for $2,000). she 'purchased' the car. the escrow service and delivery service was fake. all the information she had was the person's first name and e-mail. she lost $2,000 and even after reporting it to the FBI, there was nothing she could do to get the money back or receive any reimbursement of any sort. please, be careful. post all ads that you find here on the org. there are good people here that are more than happy to help you with your search, and there's no harm in having as much insight as possible.

I am in Jacksonville FL, but the location of the vehicle doesn't matter to me. I can fly to where it is and drive it back.

Like I said before.. PLEASE be careful about buying it. There are a lot of people trying to scam out there. This person just listed my car on craigslist AGAIN! I reported it to craigslist.. Maybe they can block this person from ever posting on there again.

And again.. I have carfax, I can help you research anything. Just PM me with any information that you have on the car and a link. I've been helping Brittie out lately, she just sent me a PM.. and guess what it was, my car on craigslist for $3500. This is rediculous..
