Meguiars Gold Class...the choice for both me and my partner-in-crime mentalvdub. She swears by the liquid, I swear by the paste. :)

yes indeed, Meguiars Gold Class is amazing. paste is cool, but for some reason i just dig the liquid more.
we need to wax our bugs together sometime!

My favorite is Zaino. Heard a lot about it, couldn't imagine it was worth the money, but figured I should try it out for myself before judging. Used it, and I'll never go back.
Also, I think regardless of what wax/polish you use, the MOST important thing is to strip the old wax before applying the new, and claybar at least once a year
I'm pretty anal about keeping my cars clean, and I was shocked the first time I used a claybar. I couldn't believe there was as much crap on my car as there was. Definitely well worth the work!

I use Meguire's Gold Class liquid. Seems pretty good stuff.
I really wanna try out some Zaino's Bros' too though.

the lower the carnuba content, the longer the wax lasts.

I use two different waxes on my car. I use Meguirs NXT generation Tech Wax for most of my car, it's awesome but it stains rubber and plastic stuff. I use The Wax Shop Super Glaze liquid wax on the parts of my car with the vinyl graphics. I can use that to wax right over the vinyl with no problems, it even cleans, polishes, and protects the vinyl nicely.
I also claybar once a year.

I agree Zaino is the only way to go. I have used it on several colors and can't wait to try it on my Cyber Green.

Yeah - but this stuff is a snap to apply and it looks soooo good!
I've tried other waxes and am sticking with this until I'm out - I haven't found many that make black look deep and shiney like the carnuba. Hey good enough for the Concourse is good enough for Marvin!
I'll probably try the NXT when I run out, because I have heard good things, but haven't tried it yet myself.

i just used mcguire's deep crystal three step system today: paint cleaner, polish and carnuba wax. it was a lot of work, but the results were well worth it. since i've only had the car for a few weeks, i had no idea how well the exterior had been cared for, so i wanted to start off clean. also, since i did some paint chip touch up on tuesday, i bought some rubbing compound and some polishing compound (both turtle wax) and used it on the touch ups. i also used the polishing compound on some scratches, and what a difference! i am in love with this stuff! there were a few spots that didn't disapear, but most of them did.
as for the carnuba not lasting long, eh. it's so easy to apply, that i don't mind waxing more often, and at least if it wears off quickly, i shouldn't have to worry much about buildup! ;)
i should also add that we did the three step on a friend's car that had definitely seen better days. the difference there is amazing. it's a white car, and when we started with the paint cleaner, we could see that the paint had gotten so bad that it had actually turned quite grey!! but the paint cleaner really cleaned it up. it's white again!
i will say though, that even though i love my cool white beetle, white is not the easiest color to polish. it's so easy to miss a spot and not know it!

I use Klasse. It's an acrylic rather than a wax. It lasts longer, doesn't haze and won't hurt the finish of the car if left on too long. and the best thing is, it doesn't build up like wax!

You won't be disappointed. I wax mine with Zaino once a year. In spring, after about 11 months since the last application, I've had people comment on my car, thinking I just pulled it off the showroom floor. The shine just can't be beat!

Yup. Although, keep in mind, I don't drive it much in the winter, so that helps. I do put a second application on the winter car in the fall.

It even looks better the next day after the wax has cured. I use their NXT soap and quick detail spray which has a little wax in it as well. Great combo.

i tried zymol... and was actually sad after i washed and waxed and sweated my afternoon away... it was NOTHING special. and now i have a bottle of it that i don't particularly want! lol
my dad swears on nu finish, and i tried it and looooooved it. it's INCREDIBLY easy, and left my car so smooth it was almost soft, and i couldn't keep my hands off of it.

Well Zymol is more of a cleaner wax than an actuall wax.

I love Meguiar's products -
I used to use the NXT Tech Wax but now I do the following on my car:
wash
claybar
Speed Glaze #80
Polymer Sealant #21 (this stuff is really easy on and easy off! and lasts much longer than the NXT Tech wax)
I keep the car up w/ Speed Detailer.
I only do this once or twice a year. Car is garage kept.
Here is a pic.

I know that Zaino is good - but for the price and time required you should just stick w/ the nxt tech wax!
good luck.

Hey - thanks!
car has (at the time of the picture):
-eibach prokit shocks and springs - about 1" drop all around (so they say)
-eiback pro spacers - 8mm up front 20mm rears
-18x8" OZ Cronos Evolution Rims w/ Bridgestone S03 tires (225/40)
-abd cup racing bumper
-greddy front mount intercooler
-hids
-gts stylite eye lids
-kamei rear valence painted blue
-GTI 04 seats
-no drill rear wing
-red'clear tails
i think that's about it style wise. I just love the color - If I had the $ to buy a the official RSI body kit I think this would be the car to do it on - Thanks!

I had heard a lot of good things about Meguiar's Gold Class. I bought some last year and absolutely hatedthe stuff. It left a oily streaks on the car, that has never happened to me before with any kind of wax. The shine wasn't very good either.:( I re-washed the car with dishsoap and re-waxed it with Zymol. Much better result this time; no streaks, gorgeous deep shine, and the paint felt like silk.:)

Love Zymol, especially that banana smell :)
Recently I have been using what's left of frozen diluted Zymol mixed with car-wash soap to wash the car. Makes for a nice shine after, and I can go a few months or more without having to wax it fully. In fact, thanks for reminding me... I need something for the car for my Christmas Wish List this year!

Die hard Collinite fan here. Carnuaba based and lasts forever. Doesn't stain trim either (Big plus to me). Someone told me or I read somewhere once cheap fillers are what stain trim. I bounce back and forth between Collinite Liquid and their paste.
I hadn't heard of them until I bought a "Wax Test" magazine from http://www.gurureports.org/
If anyone wants to know where their wax stands let me know. I actually bought all 3 of their reports (Wax, Glass Cleaner, & Wheel/Tire Care). The report is a couple of years old so it doesn't have the NXT in it. Zaino did make #1, but frankly I didn't like the application method. I just want to wax and go. And #2 was the P21S, but it didn't seem to last very long, so that is why I went with Collinite. Easy to use (at least for what I am used to) and lasts a long time.
