the vehicle is a 99 Beetle 2.0l with a manual 5 speed. The problem is that the shifter has a hard time choosing which gear it wants to be in. There is no problem actually engaging a gear just sometimes when put into first, it'll be in third and to shift into 5th, you have to do it fast and hard or it will be in 3rd. Ive heard of VWs having problems with worn out bushings and rods in the shift linkage. Is this the problem? has anyone had any experience with this?
