I currently have a 1.8 Turbo beetle 4 cyl.
I WANT at least a VR6 2.0 or 1.8 Turbo....Where do you people even get these engines?Do you have to get the engine from another VW or will any VR6 work?(I doubt this since the engine compartment is so small compared to other cars)
I want to not only make my beetle LOOK cool but I want to back my look up with some actual HP...
Where can I research engine prices?Which sized engine fit into a beetle?

If you have a 1.8T, why do you want another one? Also, a 2.0 is NOT the motor you want if you want a really hi-po motor. Also also, a VR6 would be tuneable to a lot of power, but you have quite a bit of weight gain with it. It's FAR easier and cheaper to tune a 1.8T to make the same amount of power as mounting a VR6 in the car would be.
As a side note, I don't know of any other manufacturer that makes a VR6 motor. Just Vdub.
Technically speaking, with enough coin you can fit any motor in the car. It's like the old saying: "Speed costs money. How fast do you want to spend?"
BTW, most people get their engines from wrecked cars, usually victims of rear endings.

1.8T is easier to gain power by getting the big turbo set up. It will give you more fun, but it's still have limit of 1.8L.
VR6 is big engine has more wieght and power from factory. It's not easy to get HP in VR6 like 1.8T. Let say you have to put more money to gain HP in VR6, however, if a set of turbo is in VR6 it wil be monster.:D
You can find the motor from the totalled car from insurance company if you know, or there are people selling their engine on vwvortex.com, BTW: I have 1.8T with chipped ECU for sale too;).
Any 1.8T will fit your car. VR6 2.8 is your choice 12V,24V. You should get the VR6 from the car 2000+ or in MKIV pattern. The air box is on the driver side already so you don't have to change anything at it.
I love VR6 though.
