View Full Version : skematics of roof supports?

Anyone know where I can get online the skematic drawings of the roof supports, assembly details, etc. for the NBC?
I have a nasty sounding noise coming from either (1) in the cross member supports or )2) perhaps from the point where the hydraulic device interfaces with the metal support structure of the roof. Sounds like scraping metal, like a two piece part has come loose and is banging when I hit a bump in the road. If I lower tire pressure, the sound reduces considerably.
If it's not simple fix, she's under warranty so I can take her in, but the scientist in me is curious about how this frame is built.
Thanks! :)

We also have the same type of sound coming from base of the top when we hit a bump. Thinking about thking it it, but want to get the transmission fixed first...

Same here :( .... I got 05 NBC and the (i reckon the same) sound driving me nuts. It comes and goes... and sounds like two pieces of metal banging on each other when car goes over a pothole or 'sharp' bump. I narrowed it down to the right hand side of the windshield cross bar but didn't get a chance to look at it properly.
>docdixon, any luck with 'reverse engineering' ;)

Sounds like we all have the same noise, yet when I called my dealer to schedule a repair they insisted that they have not seen the problem before. You would think certainly that trhey would have.
They also told, just after I bought my car, that they had never had anyone mention that the gas gauge acts crazy. Of course, we all know that after you drive a NBC about three miles the gauge drops by 1/4 of a tank.
I wish these guys were are wired up to a lie detector device.

... and electric shock machine as well :D
then again they'd be just a little bit more spastic through their shift time then usual, innit? LOL
BTW the sound is disappeared for now - mystery

Mine was doing this and the dealer adjusted and lubed the roof latch and it quit. I think the latch plate loosens.

The schematics are great; now I know what's under there.
Mine keeps on making that loud creaking and metal on metal sound; however, if I stop the car, lower and then raise the top back up, the sounds go away. Makes me think there is a piece or two that works its way out of alignment. The "fix" is only temporary.
If the dealer can't repair this after one or two attempts, I wonder if lemon laws apply? Failing that solution, I trade for a '07 Mustang Vert. That'll show 'em! :D
Thanks again for the suggestions and the drawings.

Hey, I pulled the front plastic headliner off, lubed all the moving parts, plus the fasteners, and re-assembled. Well, all the noises went away. I drove 100 miles today to Greenville, and not one squeak, groan, or metal on metal noise. So, maybe that was it. It was the attachment mechanism and not the frame that was making all the noise.
Anyway, for those who have this problem, do what I did and see if that dosen't help. Thanks again for the tips. :)
