Hi,
I noticed that when I shift to fith gear it has some whining noise, unlike other gears. Not to loud, but when you drive car everyday, you notice the difference. I have 2003 Turbo S with 6 Speed.
Anybody have any clue?

Check you're tranny fluid level. if it is low, it is probably time for a flush/refill anyways.
to check the level you put the front on ramps or stands and put the back on stands to raise the car level on all 4 corners.
your refill plug is going to be on the front of your transmission very near the starter on the driver side behind the radiator. it is either a 17MM hex plug, or a huge triple square plug.
If it is a 17MM hex you can easily make a tool to losen it for about $1.50 by buying a M10x1x35MM hex head metric bolt and 2 nuts to fit. you then take a 17mm open end wrench or even a crescent wrench and a vise to tighten the 2 nuts together at the end of the threads on the bolt. this locks the 2 nuts so they will not turn. you can then place the head of the bolt into the plug and turn it out.
if fluid dribbles out of the hole where the fill plug is your fluid level is fine. If not, get yourself 2 quarts of some 75w-90 synthetic gear oil (GM Synchromesh comes recommended by the guys on www.dub-tech.com) at your local autoparts store.
the tranny drain plug is on the bottom of the case and looks exactly like the fill plug. it is usually located very near the area where the axles attach to the case. (lowest point)
drain the fluid out, reclose the drain plug :) and refill from the top using one of those funnels with a hose on it.
Pray that your gear doesn't start popping out under power like
MINE (http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=126650) is doing.
the fix for my problem is costing me over $600 to replace everything in just my 5th gear. this is just a price for parts and I am doing the work myself. you have a 6th gear to worry about as well.
I certainly hope this helps.
