Welcome to the sixth installment of the Monthly Photo Assignment! :wave3:

Is everyone enjoying these? :D

This month we are going to change the rules just a tad bit. The inital idea behind the Monthly Photo Assignment was to get you out shooting something you might not have thought about shooting before for the assignment. It was also to get you to think creatively. The assignments would be easy if I was to tell you to go shoot an dollar bill. It is more of a challenge to come up with something like Orange. Sure, the fruit or a pumpkin comes to mind, but anyone can do that! It takes a creative mind to come up with shooting scissors close up in front of a black background, or a CD cover, or even traffic cones. So with that said, get out there and shoot something specifically for this assignment! :D

So with that said, let's see some pics that have the subject "Out of Place." I will start with one that I just shot specifically for this assignment.

Now, everyone sing along...."One of these is not like the other one....."

I'm hoping you don't have to think REAL hard though.

I was just thinking about several white socks with one black sock in the middle.

Or a row of A&W Root Beer cans with a Fresca in the middle.

Or a stack of cd's with one sticking out.

Or a set of closed blinds with one slat stuck open.....

Shall I give any other ideas away?

After thinking about it... the only thing that doesn't really belong in that picture is the use of lighting... Candle light

Good White Balance job. I didn't see it as candle light. :D

I think this fits the assignment. :) I had to beat Brain (I mean Brian yeah that's his name) to the punch just once.

Saw this in the backyard, and thought it'd fit the theme.

It works very well Pete! A suggestion for future compositions would be to use the "rule of thirds" and place the subject (Flower) at one of the intersections.

Rule of Thirds is a compositional "tool" if you will. Think of a tic-tac-toe grid. When you compose a shot, use the points that intersect on that tic-tac-toe grid to place your subject (flower). See photo. By using this kind of placement, it creates a bit of movement. Whereas if you put it in the dead center, your eye just looks at the flower and doesn't "roam" around. Does that make ANY sense?

Of course, I'm not telling you how to take pics, just offering a different perspective on composition! :wave3:

10 days left in this assignment! :D
