SWEET! I so love DeLoreans! That interior looks all original, am i right? I remember sitting in one years back and it looked exactly as yours does, but the one i saw was a clunker (doors wouldn't stay up).

i am VERY jealous!

Awesome. I have always, always wanted a DeLorean. When I lived in Newport Beach, someone in my parking complex had one, and I always parked near it hoping to someday meet the person and ask him or her about it.

Ahh, the venerable Renault V6, I remember hearing stories about DeLorean not being able to get a Chevy 350 like he wanted because Chevy didn't want his car to be faster than their Corvette.

I do believe that the DeLorean *was* designed for a small block V8, if / when I ever got one, that's the first thing I would do.

Hehehe, *then* it would sound like Doc Brown's time machine with that nice, deep V8 growl.

I have seen a 350 Chevy DeLorean in person. The owner did a very clean install. The prototype DeLorean had a Citroen engine, but the PRV was chosen because it was the most power engine to weight at the time. The two twin turbo DeLorean PRV-6s in existance are quite powerful! 0-60 is less than 6 sec. on those cars. My favorite engine swap so far has been a Lotus Twin Turbo V8! Beleive it or not, the PRV sounds like a V8 at idle with a free flow exhaust installed. :D

Heh! One of my favorite cinematic blunders....the Delorean was Electric in the first movie and somehow by the end of the 2nd/beginning of the 3rd when it was appropriate for an arrow to get lodged into the gas tank to somehow make gas be a reason for engine power loss to occur.

Still have my eyes on them..Jai's is one of the best looking ones out there. :goodjob: Get Deloreans.org back up and running!

That wasn't a blunder man. In either the 2nd or 3rd BTTF Doc Brown clearly makes a point that the engine always ran on ordinary gasoline, but needed the plutonium (and likewise the Mr. Fusion) to generate the 1.21gigowatts of electricity needed for the flux capacitor. Remember, they could get the car to run in the 1955, just couldn't time travel. The only time they had trouble was in 1885 with no gasoline.

Sorry to jump off topic a bit, i just love this car and those movies.

March 17th - St. Patrick's Day Parade 2007 - Atlanta, GA

I decided to give my car a little St. Patrick's Day pep with a modified green factory style side stripe.

That is one fine looking Delorean, beautiful job on bringing it back to life. Unfortunately, I've never actually driven one or sat in one for that matter, but do remember seeing it at the Detroit Auto show when I was younger. I have always been a fan of that car and am a self admited Back To The Future addict. Everytime it comes on TBS, TNT, Bravo...or whatever else, I am glued to the TV...even though I've got the movie box set on DVD. Fortunately my wife accepts me;) and can now quote the movie right along with me.
There is a car show downtown Cartersville, GA next weekend 4/6 that I will be going to...hope to see you there.

Not entirely a re-bodied lotus esprit. It is true the frame and suspension were designed by Lotus, so the handling is quite good to have the engine way out back. The body is also within one inch of the Esprit dimensions. The windshield is also the exact same unit, but that about where the similarities stop. The rest of the car is its own animal.

I was just watching a TV show the other night about how a private company bought out all the parts when the DeLorean factory closed down. The new company will make you a BRAND NEW DMC 12 out of the original parts for about 30,000 or they can have you bring in your old DeLorean, that is need of repairs and use OEM parts to bring it back to "life"... I just thought it was neat that a company still can make the car from the parts still left.

Great picture update!!!

Yeah, DMC of Houston bought all of the surplus stock after the factory was closed (not directly, but later). Contrary to popular belief, there never were cars just sitting in Ireland. They were all sold after the factory closed. Houston's website is http://www.delorean.com. I have toured their Houston facility and have ordered a good number of my parts from them. In fact, the car in front of mine in the Parade pictures is a refurbished car from Houston! Expect to pay at least $45K for a fully refurbished DeLorean. Over $50K if you start to upgrade it.

Yeah the TV show said 30,000 and I thought... nah, its gotta be more then that. The show also said that there was never any in Ireland as well.

What a fun car though, movie wise and car history wise. Very fun!

dude was a genius just like Hitler.... the only problem being, Hitler had power as well. With that power his project couldn't fail, funny thing being his project aided in the rebuilding of Germany after the war and he was removed. Crazy how things happen.

With the same influence the DeLorean probably would have sold better as well.... then again without the war who knows were VW would have ended up. Gotta love looking back at history, it always makes you wonder.

I think the time frame in which this vehicle was produced was the main issue.

The USA was dealing with oil issues and the cold war. Also the production cost of the car went up drasically ( to my understanding, when the DeLorean was a concept they wanted it to be priced around 12,000 dollars, hense the 12 in the car name.) But because of the production costs being so pricey, they ended up cutting back and also raising the price.

Sweet ride, dude.

My dad has been looking at getting a car lately, and despite his insistance on either a Mercedes SLK or Toyota MR2, I always manage to "accidentally" bring up DeLoreans:D :D :D .

Apart from the BTTF references, these cars are simply stunning.

I'm pretty sure it is Saturday night 4/6...that's usually when they did them last summer. It's right downtown around the train depot and tracks, and there is usually live music and a pretty good turn out.
How long have you owned that car? I seem to remember seeing it somewhere around when we lived in Atlanta, or when we were visiting....when you are a BTTF fan and see a Delorean with Outatyme as the plate...you tend to remember that.

I came across this on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUWZh9fXgCY&feature=related) Felt is was appropriate to the thread. In fact, there were a bunch more commercials on there as well.

Favorite scene from movie was when the Doc had that contraption on his head and trying to read Marty's mind. Then after a few failed attempts, he says "Do you know what this means? .... It means that this dam thing doesn't work at all" always loved that part!
Awesome car dude, love the plate too!
