Ok! VW we dont like your "LIfe time transmission" and we demand better products next time and more transparency in your business practices. Or else, Good bye!

:screwy: VW Life Time Transmission :screwy:

We are tired of your delears changing the subject, avoiding, and sometimes lying about the fact that the transmission needs attention. Common sense tells us that any transmission needs attention and it has been proven that the "Life Time Transmission" is all nothing but non-sense. If i had known that almost all your line of cars has this limmitation to check the Transmission fluids like any normal car; i would have never bought this car. We know that by corporate mandate the dealers cant do anything but wait untill the transmission breaks and a replacement is needed. All costing about 3,000 for a new one and then labor (which is not nice at the dealer) If you think this is a way to make money and move up to the competition of Japan you are terribly wrong! Sure you'll make more money but will loose customers in favor of a more reliable car like a Toyota. It's your call, and we current VW New Beetle owners are angry! Angry because its something that the dealer does not want to do and makes us risk our cars in "do it your self" attempts or taking it to an unauthorized repair center which can be a cause for you to void warranties.

Thank you

First, get rid of the smilies. Their email reader may not be able to display them.
Get rid of one of the which in "center which which can".

You could suggest that they add a transmission service at 100K miles (the end of their life time).

Uhm.. I change the transmission fluid myself. I can't imagine trying to talk a dealership into taking my money.

Ummm... I hate to burst your bubble... but most, if not all, auto manufacturers are moving to the "lifetime" transmission. Yes, even Toyota. Most Toyotas have had sealed transmissions (or at least "lifetime" fluid) since the 2005 models. Their dealers are just as reluctant to change the fluid during service as your VW dealer apparently is (my dealer is okay with it, actually... so maybe you just need to find a different dealer in your area).

But, like Porkchop said... it's not all that difficult to DIY. Personally, I can think of a couple of things on my NB that I'd want VW to address long before I'd be concerned with whether they have a lifetime transmission or not.

VW recomends the DSG fluid be changed every 40,000 miles. I don't know if it says this in the manuals (2005 or older) but the recomended service interval information on the VW site says 40,000 miles between changes.:) :)

Dear NB owners,

As I said before I live in Turkey and own an automatic transmission NB here. I had problems with my transmission twice. On the 2nd one, I took my car to official service for cheking my transmission because I felt there was a problem about it and they told me to leave for 2 days to search for problem and I told them ok. On 3rd day, they called me and said we found nothing. your fluid level, the viscocity is ok.. On these days my car was underwarranty. 2 weeks later (my warranty was over) while I was driving my car, It became very bad and when it was on 1st gear, my car vibrates very badly and I thought there was a very very bad problem about Transmission. I took my car again to same service for that and after 3 hours, they told me my transmission was broken out and out of warranty! (They told me that the price of automatic transmission : 9800$)

After all this, I got very angry to VW Turkey Distributor for being unprofessional and I told them I'll talk to VW A.G (Germany) and I wrote an e-mail about my problem. They called me from Germany in 15 minutes (yes only 15 minutes) and told me that "we will talk with Turkish Distributor for this problem" after half an hour later, The HQ of VW Turkey called me and flatterer to me. We will fix your transmission under warranty Mr. Emre etc etc...

As you see, If you have to be rude to them because they only understand from this type of customers.

Best Regard
