Thanks to TaterTot for the assignment idea.

A big thank you to all of you that have been participating in these assignments. This has certainly been fun for me, and I am inspired by seeing how many different ways a simple subject can be interpreted.

This was an experiment for my gallery show which opens on Friday. It's a wine glass full of water, and I used a syringe to squirt water straight down into the glass. :D

And with that, I leave it open for your imaginations!

Water. THIS I have all around me here at the Beach. However...Here is a Lion Holding Some Water.

Does that work?

Another shot from my camera phone. I need a real camera. My wife says with it blurry, it looks like the lion is moving...

this is an old photo from a trip to Hawaii, but i love how the water and the clouds look like they're all going into the sunrise.

I was going to take a closeup of water drops or something but..decided to take a day at the beach...love living in NC.

my next one will be one that i actually took this month. i read the poll thread about using old photos vs treating it as a new assignment...so i'll try something new on my next post.

Once I get my beetle, there should be a beetle gathering there! The photos are actually further down at Fort Fischer...easier to find parking down there. The 1st one is the very end of Fort Fischer down by the ferry to Southport. 2nd is at the station at FF where you can drive on the beach.

i took a little bike ride around the lake today after work...here's what i saw:

http://www.devaneyhight.com/vortex/water_geese.jpg

http://www.devaneyhight.com/vortex/water_trees.jpg

http://www.devaneyhight.com/vortex/water_trees2.jpg

I did see a perfect picture opportunity but didn't take the photo and now i'm kicking myself. Since the assignment is water, i saw a bunch of ducks sitting in a grassy area. It was more of a scene you'd see with them in the water. So I was going to take it and use it for "water" because it's the one thing that was missing from the photo.

a crazy storm ripped thru Tallahassee today. not crazy as in never-ending-downpour type, but crazy as in it didn't know what it wanted to do. first it poured down rain, then blew a drizzle at like 30 mph, then decided to hail some quarter-sized bits, then pick at random from those choices for the next 45 mins. i ducked into the nearest parking garage to escape the potential roof dings, and realized i had my camera with me. i was trying for anything, and realized my eye was looking for contrasts.

here's the couple of keepers...
i like the difference in texture in this one. (i know the lighting is horrible, but remember it was storming out, and the parking garage lights are crap [if they work].)
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a107/manoverboard987/artsy%20things%20maybe/100_0339_cropped_800x600.jpg

this was at the bottom of the ramp from level 4 to level 3. apparently there's a drainage problem. (i guess i like the differences in color and the difference between the round drops at the top and flat ripples at the bottom. the full resolution version is better.)
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a107/manoverboard987/artsy%20things%20maybe/100_0324_800x600.jpg

(here's the context for that one.)
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a107/manoverboard987/artsy%20things%20maybe/100_0326_640x480.jpg

and man i love this new camera. i could never had gotten what detail there is in those pics with my old piece. i'm working on getting to be as good as my camera. it's coming along slowly but surely...

well anyways, there's my contribution.

and i've got an idea for next month - given that April's is Water (as in showers), May's should be something to do with flowers maybe?

This was at Tintern Abby in Southeast Wales. This estaury was flowing one way when we got there in the evening and was flowing the other way the next morning. Quite odd.

The other is a swan at the Birmingham Zoo, Alabama

You can always count on me for the B&W!!!
