I stumbled into the "Photos: Members" section for the first time today. Does it strike anyone else as sorta potentially mean that we can rate these threads? If I post pictures of myself that other members find unattractive, will my thread get a "1" rating ? I'm curious if anyone else shares my view :o

Nobody really rates people's pics. I don't even think it's ever even come up. I've repped a few hotties in my day though. secretly.

Funny, and I thought I was the only one to do that!:D

I dont think you should be able to rate the pic threads... Its mean...

if you think some one is hot, then send them a little message, and carry on ...

but hey, thats just me...

As someone who's slathered my face in that forum - I could care less. My self-worth won't depreciate over some vBulletin icons.

Actually, there are a few threads that are rated, otherwise I would have never started this thread. There are a few 3 star ratings that have several votes, so it is certainly possible that the thread was rated a '1' by a cruel individual and then some nice people gave the thread a higher rating to bring the average up. Just a possibility.

I'm not the type of person to define my self worth by an internet group's rating of my personal photographs, but I have to be honest: If I posted a pic of myself and the thread was rated low, it would make me feel sad.

There's nothing stopping me from going on an alpha-female rampage and giving other female photo threads a "1" rating.

Ooooh that rating! Nobody can post to your pic threads. I think i rated myself with all the stars or whichever it uses just to be smart. Those ratings can't be done by others. I thought you meant repping. I've repped some orgbabes for their pic, not rated. I would never rate someone.

I see your point, I don't seem to be able to actually rate the threads in the "Member Photos" section. My initial concern seems ungrounded now.
However, I am rather confused as to why some threads have star ratings w/ an average rating. e.g., something like "average rating 3.77 with 5 votes" There are a few of them, I'm just confused now. Maybe they were coming from a different section of the forum, i.e., they were moved?

When you post to a thread you have the option of rating it with your post. It's really that simple.

It should be set up such that no one can rate other people's threads (but you can rate your own). I'll check to confirm that it's really that way, but that was the plan. However, moderators and administrators can always rate any thread, so it's possible mods and/or admins have rated some people (probably without realizing that they weren't supposed to and no one else can).

thanks for clearing this up for me. :) My memory is frequently fallible, but it seems to me that the Star Ratings (Rate this thread) have changed a little (for the positive) since yesterday.

You can rate people's pics, I started out with a 5 and since then have ended up witha 4 star :( It says average 8 votes and a 3.5 rating. I don't really care, but my hubby was mad  lol

ah-hah! I'm not delusional after all! Thanks for your input JuggBugg. I like your pics, you, your kids, and hubby are all some fine looking folks. :) Anyone who rates otherwise is cranky and mean. :peekaboo:
Whoever it was probably drives a Mercedes or BMW, not what I would expect from a Beetle driver. ;)

No, you're not  !!! LOL And thanks for the compliment...I'm very proud of my lil' nutty family unit! :)

I just figured it was one of those raging alpha female '1' star rampages you spoke of earlier. :roflmao: Oh well, whoever did it, just aint true BEETLE PEOPLE like you said! ;)

I would rate my friends bad just be funny. JuggBugg would get some nice ratings just cuz ya always look nice. There's a few other who would get some 5s. Amy would so get a 1 just cuz i know she's have a fit.

Although i still believe that regular (non moderator/admin) memeber were unable to rate threads in the member gallery section, I went ahead and turned it off compeltely, just for good measure. now, you shouldn't even see the rating widget. Let me know if you do.

My apologies if this really was not set up right. It was definitely never my intention to allow rating of people's personal photos (that's what HOT or NOT is for). :)

I noticed that yesterday when I did put pictures up, that someone "rated" my thread, I did find that a bit odd... but not too bothered by it.

I like that you turned it off though... it seems better in the long run.

John, you can still rep, you just can't rate them now... hahaha... that means they will know its you!!!

wow. i'm such a spaz i didn't even notice or give any thouht to the fact that you could (or used to could) rate someone's picture thread.

what pisses me off is that you can't post in someone's picture thread. and vice versa. i can see where there is a slight chance that someone would post something mean but is that a reason to not let someone say "hello" or "nice picture" or something?
