Not many pics yet. Soon. I need to detail her, I dont think its ever been waxed in its life.. needs a claybar horribly, its grainy as heck. Oh well. Ill fix it up, me and my obsessive-compulsiveness. I had her knock $500 off for the front valace being askew, which I can also fix, and a missing grille piece (German junkyard here I come...). Anyway. I just took her to Exklusiv for her first oil change with me, and got 45 MPG on this tank, and am already 130 miles into my second tank (Ive had her for 24 hours, see why I needed that TDi?). Jims got a diesel teacher at school who is going to dig into her and see what all needs to be done, I dont have to do the timing belt for a while yet, I gotta pour over her service records (extensive-she did a good job with it). The rebuild was thanks to her cousin/niece something running it out of oil and a rock flipping through her oil pan/camshaft, apparently her insurance covered the whole thing, everything was replaced except for the basic block which was undamaged. So Im driving it like Im breaking it in. Its a sweeeeeeet car, love the smell, love the sound, LOVE the mileage.
I dont think Ill ever sell this one.
I miss Lola sooo bad though. It will take me a while to come to grips with the fact that my dreambug is gone :( I left a note in the glovebox to come here and find me though, hopefully the new owner will be able to come on here and we'll get to enjoy Lola some more :) I miss her horribly. The gas mileage is helping.
<3 Aint she cute?

She is a beauty and in a great VW home. Have fun working on her, but don't become a stranger here!!! What did you end up doing with your beetle?
Once again congratulations and enjoy!!! post more pictures and tell us what you decide to name it.:D

..German junkyard here I come...
Be careful, your in phoenix, you might end up running into my jetta :( I wish I would have bought it back from the insurance company now, because I feel so guilty for letting it go to the salvage yard.

If I see her, do you want me to get a seatbelt for you? I made a belt for myself out of the seatbelt of my wrecker :) I loooove it. I know how you feel, though. I had an 82 chevette that I made into an art car (Gotta find pics of it..). It was my first car and it was deliciously quirky, on our way to prom I had to hold the fender on while I hung out the window (I know, safe, huh? LOL). I thought it was fun to run halfway into ditches and bounce out. Once I hit a pretty strong dip and almost tore the entire wheel off. Then I lost the brakes.
It was hilarious, really, because we were 16 and the car cost me $200
But when I donated it I was so sad. Jim went to the junkyard and brought me back the stuff I accidentally left in the glovebox, various interior pieces, and the belt buckle. Poor Beast :(
Anywho.
I wont become a stranger ;) Im having major issues joining up at TDICLUB.com (AOL email UGH) where Ill be getting my TDI info. But we still have that Silver thing out there ;) Now that Lola is gone, my creative juices will just have to go into painting the interior (and possibly exterior) of Lulu. Jim goes back and forth on wanting to keep it so often it makes my head spin. I finally told him we're keeping it, PERIOD! So this summer when Im bored Ill be hacking into it and messing with it. With obsessive picture taking as well, of course...
Ha, cant get rid of me THAT easily! Mwahha! Aha!

Oh, and Lola is at the VW dealership at that auto mall at 10? and the 101. At McDowell. Im so glad I found out about Exklusiv being a TDI-guru shop yesterday, otherwise I would have had to go in for a $60 oild change at the dealer and would have seen Lola all shiney with her new shoes on. Part of me really wants pics of her and the Golf together, but the other part of me would just die :(

maybe on monday when I am over on that side of town I will go check in on her (just so I don't end up buying it) but with how cute she is, she might be gone by monday...
PM me sometime, we should try to have a gtg even though my car needs serious work, I could use some advice.

And we just figured out we practically live in the same town... so thats a plus too!!!
I am all down for a GTG, but you have to remember I just got this beetle and it needs a good amount of TLC.. so I am not as proud of it (like I was my Jetta, I had an ego about how good my jetta looked) But I will be proud of it once I have the TIME to give it some serious TLC.

What does she need? I have all sorts of toys here. We can spruce her up nice and shiney.
And of COURSE Im still dubbin' ;) Like I could ever see myself in anything else! I was looking at Saturn Vues. They really are kind of neat cars and the gas mileage was still better than Lola. But when it came down to the TDi or the Saturn there really was no contest. Ill just have to refrain from having seven children and all will be well, XD

After I crashed(ok, minor fender bender with $1000 damage)my poor little Prizm, I realized the insurance company wanted to send her away to be parted out and I paniced! So I donated her to Habitat for Humanity. They get a nice mechanic to donate some time and then they sell it to a low income person. I actually saw it last year - a girl my age was driving it. YEA!! It's so hard to part with your car. Wahhh!
I love your Golf TDI!! My friend has a black one.

Excellent point... I was in so much physical and emotional pain, I don't think I knew what I was doing (it was my first accident) But I have learned... and I think that it is awesome that you were able to donate your car to such a great cause. My mom and I have worked with Habitat for Humanity, and boy have I worked my but off... but its worth it, to help others. Thanks for your advice, I will remember that in the future!
ANNA: Post some new pictures of your TDI with the new lights...

Yes please more pics!! How about the interior? My friend's Golf needs a new hood. Do you have any idea what that would cost? The paint is badly chipped. Just wondering.
That accident was my first too. Habitat is a great organization. Our church is sponsoring a home for one of our members this year. It really is amazing how much a home costs!!
Don't you think blue and white go well together?:D

And MISS that smell!
Ive always adored the smell of diesel. If I ever get a little overspill or drops from the pump I wipe them off with my hands without thinking about it, and throughout the day Ill get a whiff and just smile. Jim must think its my perfume. I wish they bottled it.

How about a good old fashioned debadging?
http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h88/quixoticanna/10-20-06_1504.jpg
Is it a Beetle now!?
Note to self and all: Use thread/dental floss/fishing line. NOT a screwdriver. You will end up with big huge holes in your paint, YAY!
(Not to worry, I just found my paint shop ;))
M3 style sideskirts and painted valences are next, might as well do a touchup at the same time. Trooper has got a crazy road rash issue. Another pic as soon as it comes into my inbox.

Hey, shut it, my thread broke, see it?
M3 sideskirts and maybe an R bumper in the mail in two weeks, with all that paint might as well shave the rear as well, I hate that big emblem in the back... so paint is a non issue. Ill have the touchup 123 coming as well for that pesky area over my windshield so I'll do a temporary job on it when that gets here since Paint will be my X mas gift to myself.. if nothing else, Ill just stick the badge back on :P. I like the stock bumper so I just want to paint the valence, Jim geeps going on and on about porsche style exhaust cutouts but I like his butt the way it is (troopers, I mean).
Hey, at least Im not scared to get in there and yank stuff off!

Holy twin TDIs, batman! (yeah I dont know whats going on with the glare either).
This guy was a total trip to talk to, too.
I saw him out the window and shrieked and took off in the middle of work to pull the car around and park by him, my boss thought it was hysterical how excited I was. I waited by the window for the guy to come out, and when he did I bombarded him. He was confused why the two cars were different.

a screwdriver de badging?  what couldn't you have gone out and bought fishing line(piano wire works better anyways, fishing line gets caught up on the glue) and done it the correct way:rolleyes:
hey lets find jim a euro rear bumper for his car because the beetle needs lovin too...get the r32 front bumper and side skirts, ill get food stamps and start selling plasma or something:o

I got a job :D We're looking all over. We looked at a Yaris, we looked at some Scions, we're in the process of looking for an older beetle or golf, and we're looking at the 06s since the prices are slashed and we have some expendable $$$. It just depends on what car says, "Here I am, buy me!"
Price depends on how long the ar will last. 15k for a scion is okay, and thats what we look to spend on an older beetle TDI, its all relative. 26k for a Jetta that we can pay off for the next 10 years since we'll no doubt keep it that long? Doesnt bother me. Pay off a 15k beetle for 4 years? Doesnt bother me. We casually look at aircooled beetles too, if you really want to stretch it all out. We are waiting on a quote on another TDI beetle as of this afternoon. Im sure lots of people here understand what its like to be "waiting for the perfect car". When we find it, price will probably not be the big issue.
