View Full Version : 1958 Beetle is Back Home

Well the old beetle, is back home after some extensive restoration. Work included a partcial rear floor pan, new door posts, new heater channel.The left side was repainted in L41 black.Floor pan was POR 15 coated.
Next year the drivers side wil be restored in the same manner.

I don't know what it is. But there's just something about a black with red interior beetle. They drive me bonkers I love em so much. :D Awesome job.

Ok-I'm REALLY jealous!!! That is a beautiful bug!I LOVE the old bugs!! I really miss my old black '66....Ah the memories....:lol:

Actually the floor you see in the photo was replaced by a PO for the exact same reason battery damage. Although it was solid the PO did a poor job replacing the floor so I had it redone.The front still sports it's original 1958 floors as does the drivers side.
The new and remaining original pan was completely painted with POR 15 paint as were the fenders and wheel wells.
I have the current battery in a plastic tray along with a battery pad under the tray in case of leakage.
I still pan to install the original battery cover and clamp.
My next batery though will be an Optima which come in 6 volt and can be even layed on there side if necessary.
