Maybe transmission trouble???

Wow from reading some of these threads it seems I may have some of the same problems. Heres whats going on with mine. My driveway has a slope to it so when I back up Im on an incline when I put it in drive it tends to roll back for a second before it engages. Then when im driving when I slow down then I speed up again like in trafic it seems to have gone out of gear and slams back into gear when I push on the gas. Plus its only getting about 22 MPG. Its got about 60,000 miles and is over due for new sparkplugs and ill have to check the manual to find out what else. It only idels at about 900 RPM is this normal? Could this be causing my tranny problems? Thanks in advance for any input on this.

No! Yours sounds fine, mine is also 60,000 and when reversing a little slipping back is normal, and it is also normal when braking at a stop and around 22 mph the engine like holds back a little. Its all normal i think, mine is fine but i need to do the fluid change because around this time that fluid is black and dirty. The VW dealer really loves when people break their transmissions and its a really dirty practice. This is the first and only Vw i will ever buy again unfortunately..:(
