worth fixing?

we've got a kodak easy share LS443 digital camera...a year or two old, 4.0 megapixel.

battery died (so we thought)...got new battery today. charged it, turned the camera on. shutter cover won't open, lens will not extend out from the camera body...it seems to be stuck, and just clicks incessantly. :(

worth fixing? or do we just go find a new camera?

It should be fixable...the question really is.....is it economically feasible to fix it? Only a good camera shop would know. In this disposable world we live in, many things are designed to be thrown away when they break. The cost here for somebody to work on electronics, is a $65-$75 charge to open it up for diagnostics, with no guarantees of repairability. I'd contact a good local camera shop or Kodak directly to answer your question.

I work at a camera shop and realisticly it's just not worth reparing. A good 4.0 MP camera can be pruchased for $149 and up. You will probably be paying atleast $100 for a repair. Most maunfacturers have a flat reat charge. For a bit more you could have a brand new reliable camera. Check out Nikon Coolpix L4. Great camera for the money and uses SD cards. One of many to choose from at that price.
