I know most of you don't give a flying crap about NASCAR, but I don't care. I do! And this story is a pretty major one.

sounds like an awesome tribute to an amazing driver.

good for them.. its too bad that the tribute is going to be turned into a major cash cow for the die-cast market..

why not just let the tribute happen and not try to make a bunch of $$ off of it.. is my only beef with it.

That's true. I'm just anxious to see the car. Hope it doesn't get wrecked like 90% of all the other car at Talladega.

this pic was linked thru that news story.

get Theresa out of it and it might be a nice pic.

i'm glad it's just a tribute deal. i read the title and thought you meant that Junior was switching sponsors to GM Goodwrench or something radical like that.

This summer my family is goin on a 4-day tour of Mooresville and the surrounding areas to hit every single Nextel Cup shop. My aunt, sister and I did half the shops 2 years ago, then my aunt, sister, little brother and i did the other half last year. this year, it's my aunt, sister, little brother, mom, dad and i and we're doing every single shop and Lowe's Motor Speedway.

to make a long story short...(TOO LATE!)... If there's any of the tribute cars on display at DEI, i'll post pics on this thread.

of course, i doubt there'll be much left of any but Jr's car after Talladega.

of course, i doubt there'll be much left of any but Jr's car after Talladega.True, true.

So glad to see at least a little NASCAR support here. Hope you have fun in Mooresville. I went there last year and it was AWESOME.

And I didn't know Paul Menard and Martin Truex Jr. were running those cars, either. Cool. I'm rooting for Jr. to finish 2nd on Sunday (behind Kenseth).

yup, the last 2 years we went, i was navigator for both, so i know exactly how to get to pretty much every single race shop, (except MB2 [Joe Nemechek's team], which moved to where Roush's Craftsman Truck operation used to be).

anyways, yeah, i love Mooresville.

as far as who's running what for DEI at Talladega, i'm pretty sure the 2 cars on the left are Busch series (Menard and Truex Jr.) and the 2 on the right are Cup cars (Jr. and Truex).

Have you let your state government know that you'd like a NASCAR track here in Kitsap yet? :wave3: Go visit Race2WA.com (http://www.race2wa.com/) for more information to support the Track!

The tribute cars are pretty cool.
I have a friend whose step-son is wheelchair bound & the Make-a-Wish foundation arranged a dinner for Kurt & his parents with Dale Sr.
It was the year Dale won the Daytona 500.
My friend told me that Dale was so attentive to Kurt, when Dale talked to him he didn't stand over him, Dale got down on his knees and talk to him eye to eye.
Bill(my friend) took so many pictures that Dale finally told bill to give the camera to his PR guy & for Bill & his wife get in the pictures with Dale & Kurt. How cool is that!!!
Dale must have signed 30 to 40 items for Kurt. All the items are on display in Kurt's room. It is so neat! They been offered all kinds of money for the memorabilia, but Bill has turned down all offers saying that these are personal gifts from Kurt's friend, not collectibles to be sold.:goodjob:

I've always liked Dale Sr. but after seeing the pictures & hear to stories of that dinner I respect him more as a kind & caring human being!

That is a KILLER story. That's one of the great things about NASCAR; most all the drivers are very accessable to fans and you always hear or see stories of them taking extra time out to people with special needs. And when you become as popular as the Earnhardt's have, it's good to see them stay personal. I have seen Jr. do the same kinds of things. Very cool.
