HELP Please!!!!

Hi everyone. I have a 2001 Beetle. I noticed the last few days that when I turn the car off, it makes like a "buzzsaw" noise. What is it? Thank you.

First thing I'd check was the cooling fans, are they still running? they can sound like that when the blade gets cracked. Engine noise might cover it up prior to that.

Thank you, I don't believe it's the fans. I don't know a lot about cars. But a friend mentioned that it could be the starter or timing chain? Is that possible?

Woludn't be starter turning it off...can make an ugly noise turning the car on sometimes. NB's have a timing belt, if it were making that noise, the car would probably be having some serious performance issues as well.

Is this a 1.8T? If so, it might be the turbo coolant pump motor. It is usually fairly quiet.

Mine makes alot of noise too. Front passenger side. Turbo cooling fan???
