Default power window

used my power windows the other day and heard a loud crack when the drivers window came up I thought the glass broke at first but the window wouldnt go up or down after so I figured it was the regulator I called the dealer for a price on the part planning on doing it myself as its a 2001 with 175000 klm
and they said bring it in they would cover it so it got fixed free with an upgraded kit which hopefully will last .
So if this happens to you check out the dealer first to see if they will cover it under the extended warranty on window regulators.

Default 2001 NB - "funny" windows?

Interesting note. From time to time, I've had problems with my power windows, too. See to be working right now but had to have them adjust them a few times.... and I still love my car! My dealer didn't charge me either. I guessed it might be an issue with this model/year.

There's an extended warranty on the window regulators (I forget which years are covered - but definitely up to 2001). The clips that hold the window are made of plastic and very prone to breaking...the new regulator VW puts in has metal clips.
