Default Crossing the border near Niagara Falls

My wife and I are planning our vacation to the Manitoulin Island again this year. We plan to drive up on Thursday this week. (7/12/07) Can anyone give me advice about what the smoothest, least traffic route to cross into Canada will be, please? I'm thinking about just staying on 190 all the way across. Is there a better way?

Thanks, eh!

Taking the 190, you could either cross at the Peace Bridge, or the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, which is farther up the road (past Niagara Falls). Traffic depends on the time of day, usually going into Canada isn't as bad as coming back into the US. This toll-free number: 1-800-715-6722 (its updated hourly) has information from the Bridge Commission on the Peace, Rainbow and Lewiston-Queenston Bridges regarding traffic delays. Or you could go here http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/general/times/menu-e.html to find out if there are any delays before you head out.

Hope this helps

Traffic on the 190 in Buffalo gets backed up going north around 4:30-6pm, so if you can, avoid hitting it around then. Nothing unbearable, but better off avoiding if you can

Fun! I crossed the Peace Bridge a few years back. How peaceful! I had to pay to come back home. I guess the Canadians have enough money on their own.

Do you need papers to drive across yet? Passport? Birth certificate?

Enjoy the view!

No papers yet, but if you have a passport, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to have it with you. As of now, all you really need to have is a photo ID for all passengers in the vehicle.
