Default Question about the insurance process (first time on my own)

I've been an occasional driver under my dad's insurance for the past 6-7 years.

Now I'm doing my own insurance. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with the insurance rep and he took all my vital pieces of info (address, type of car, driving record, etc.)

Unfortunately my phone started cutting out before I could ask the following questions, so hopefully someone can help me out.

What's the next step? Do I wait for the documents to come to my house for me to sign, or do I go to their office and fill it out in person?

I'm assuming that I don't have to fill things out since the info was recorded already and that they're just going to attach payment authorization and my two or three signatures at the bottom for me to sign.

I'll call on Monday when they re-open, but I'm anxious to take delivery of the car and I'm guessing now it will take a good 2 weeks before I can do that.

You need to go around and shop for insurance. It takes time but you can save your self some money with better deal. Go online and ask for quote. Some sites will find lowest rate for you in excange for few bucks ( not more than 15 ) and that's what I did.

Good luck!!

Yep, already did the Kanetix.ca thing, and a few other online calculators. I'm going with belairdirect.

Like I said, we had a conversation over the phone and all the info was recorded. I'm just wondering what next? Do I wait for something in the mail, or do I go sign papers in person?

You need to call your insurance professional to have that question answered.

I finally got the papers and basically have to repeat what I told the person over the phone. I guess it's standard practice, but then what was the point of having me answer all those questions?

I was supposed to take delivery on the 30th, but I guess it'll be another 3-4 weeks before that's reality.

It shouldn't take but a couple of days at most to initiate coverage. If it takes that long for this entity, what happens if you have a claim?

That's crazy. I have begun new policies and coverage over the phone in 10 minutes.
