Rant: We Need a Good Parts Supplier in Canada

Hey Fellow Canucks...

Is it just me, or is it not incredibly hard to get parts in Canada for our cars? I mean, sure you can go to the dealer...you can also sell your first born child. I look at all of the U.S. based suppliers for VW parts and I think "why can't we have a Canadian alternative"? Why should we spend our money outside of Canada?

It really bugs (pardon the pun - it wasn't intended) me that there is no place to buy parts online in Canada. I know that there are a couple of places, but the service is hit and miss, and they are nowhere near the same caliber of supplier as places like www.parts4vws.com or germancarparts.com.

Having worked in the parts industry, I know of all the aftermarket wholesale suppliers for VW parts.....the problem is that I don't know the first thing about setting up a business online, and I couldn't build a website to save my life.

If anyone out there is interested in sitting down and discussing the possibility of creating a Canadian alternative for VW owners to buy parts, something along the lines of germancarparts.com or parts4vws.com, please drop me a line at cressmanp@gmail.com.

I really believe that a business like this would succeed...it's just getting off the ground and developing the website that poses an issue.

So there you have it folks, an idea that could turn into something really successful, or it could flounder. I believe that it would succeed and give dealerships a run for their money.
