Well, I have an idea of soundproofing my bug. My estimate is to spend 250 bucks and DIY the whole interior with possibility of expanding the project in the future and adding winter protection and sound deadener ( second-skin ) to the floor exterior and wheel well.
There are many options but I like the B-quite idea. There is no mess, it's like playing the puzzles and the results are great judging by the peeps feedback. Price is competitive and it's Canadian product eh .I plan to remove floor carpet, door panels, pillars, headliner, seats and trunk carpet and soundproof the #%$*@ out of the car With a little help from foam spray ( great stuff ), utility knife and wooden roller my estimate is to have everything done over just one weekend. If not, I can always go back and kill another weekend to finish the project. I plan to start the project next weekend (10-11 Oct.) before winter kicks in and after we arrange everything and stuff gets shipped. Sounds like fun? Let me know. |

I Dynamatted one of my computers a few years back and it worked great but was a PITA. Let us know how it works out.

Installed!. I covered rear door panels ( there is no doors, but... ), rear wheel well and trunk lid. I was hoping to cover more but roll ended
.Car feels way more solid and more like one piece. I deadened road noise some 30% and that's how much of the area I covered with B-Quite. I plan on purchasing another 50sf of the same material to finish the floors ,ceiling and front doors, and 50sf of B-Quite Ultimate for under the hood and, firewall and some doubling on few spots. It's well worth the money! It all took about 16 hours ( two nights and one day ) of hard labour. Taking the panels down was the easy part and I did it in 2 hours. Then cleaning and than sticking the insulation. It sticks like crazy and it's easy and fun. Putting the panels back was the hardest task. I was surprised to see that there was NO sound or any other kind of insulation behind the panels and carpets. Well, I found one funny piece of a sponge looking, small brick size, sound insulation in one funny place. Pictures and more details will follow. |

Oh yeah, I found this great place to get a lot of info on sound dampening materials. Make sure you study the article before you get involved in the project

The time is now
. This weekend, the whole interior is coming out, FatMat goes on the floor and roof, carpet is getting a bath, sound insulation covers everything, doors and trunk lid will be re-adjusted, and then everything goes back inside. I'll be working at the parking lot behind my building (M9C 1G1) and if anybody wants to join me feel free to give me a call @ 416 576 FISH. I will have some extra FatMat, enough to cover at least two doors. Cheers! |
