Default Disappointed

Its back to the drawing board again, was sooo close to making a deal on a Black 2008 or 2009 SilverRed edition beetle I couldnt decide on Saturday which I really wanted and the manager had given me a price on paper for the 08 and a verbal price on the 09 with my trade in, a 05 F150 . This morning I phoned and said I had decided to go with the 09 and to fax me a bill of sale so I could go get insurance etc and make an appointment to come and get the car. THey call me back and wanted instead of the 12,000 difference the manager said in front of the sales girl, my husband , son and myself, he now can only go 16,000 difference. I am so bummed that I dont want to buy anything from him. My husband wanted to talk to him but he is busy and relays messages through the sales girl, !! What a way to do business?? THis is supposed to be a reputable dealer?? I gave up a deal on a used Turbo because I had been talking with this dealership about new ones etc.. now I am back to looking I guess. Any feedback on dealers that do honest decent business?? I am in ALberta.
THanks,
livinlife

Must be a Canadian thing. All the dealers here in the states are completely honest and up front. They go out of their way to make sure we get the best possible price and never do that kind of switch-a-roo.
Amazing in this time how they still pull crap like that. You'd think they'd be overwhelmed that someone is actually in there trying to buy.
Oh well, hard habits are hard to break.

I couldn't believe it either, still haven't heard a word from the manager, I better get my deposit back, I am just gonna let him think it over and if I still don't get a professional response then I will probably send a letter to the owner (?). I sure wouldn't want my business run like that. Oh well, back on the hunt again.

We just bought a 2009 in Saskatoon. It was by far the best new car dealer experience I ever had. We were treated fairly and they were all over the details.

Which dealership in Calgary?

I've bought from Northland (9 years ago) and 5th Ave VW (2007).

Had a horrible dealing with Northland, but i think management has changed since then.

5th Ave treated me well even if the sales person i had was horrible at returning phone calls..

Southcenter fine cars i hear is a good dealership to buy from at least thats what a mechanic friend of mine says (he works there on their porsche side)

Best of luck!

I feel for you.
Currently I live in the Interior of British Columbia and every interaction I have had with dealerships here has been unfortunate.
I hope to go today and make an offer on a silver-red NBC and I am already dreading the incompetency I know I will have to deal with from the sales people. VW should really do some major over hauling with their dealerships and their employees as it won't be the recession that hurts their sales but their own customer service.
Hopefully things are going better with the Calgary dealership.
Good Luck!

I searched for over a month to find my used beetle. I was about to look at (and probably buy) one that I finally thought was the ONE. Something didn't feel right so I called and canceled my appointment to see it. I was bummed just like you. I thought I let something good get away.

I had to start my search all over again. Just as I began checking again on Craig's List, there is was. I had missed one posted the day before and it was PERFECT. I never would have found it had I not waited.

There is a perfect Beetle out there for you. You just have to wait till it comes to you. It WILL be worth the wait.

Best of luck!

Lucky...

Here in Regina, my experience with the crooked sons of beeps, was so off putting, I actively persuade people away from buying VW. I was just looking at a Golf, and after hours, and days, of brow beating, and finally getting loud, they gave me a price break down... 14'9 sticker, 23'800 off the lot, with $700 in options... $2000 for a damned block heater...

I told them where to shove it, and announced quite loudly why should I buy a lesser VW for more than a better Mazda... Asses had the gaul to call me a month later and ask me if I still wanted the Golf. Taylor VW/Audi is horrible, they are just lieing thieves, and even their parts department is more expensive than any other dealer in AB and SK.
