Default Downtime's '98 Beetle project

Hello! My name is Yann and I've been a lover of all things Volkswagen since day 1. Owner of many v-dubs over the years, my current cars are an '06 Jetta 2.5, '03 Golf GLS and this '98NewBeetle GLS that I just recently bought and literaly saved from the junkyard, were it sat for a year before it was scheduled to be dismantled in the coming weeks. this is the 2nd NewBeetle I've owned and when I saw this poor, sad looking beetle, I just knew I had to save it. I owned many Golfs and Jettas before but my true love are beetles in general.

All this yellow bug needs is some TLC. It has 233xxxkm and doesn't smoke at all, the ignition coil is cracked, exhaust leaks here and there, needs brakes, needs tires, passenger side rocker is dented, paint is faded, missing one alloy, interior is just really dirty, but overall still has alot of potential. Now on with the pictures:

My first NB:

This won't be my first time fixing up a vw so I know what I'm in for, first thing to fix is the seized door lock cylinders, wish me luck!

Yann

Correct, AmericanRacing ''Casinos''

Started working on ''Dudu'' and it needs a lot less work than expected and that'a always a good thing! Ball-joints, tie-rod ends, cv joints are all in excellent shape, brakes have very little wear on 'em, maybe just a new set of pads. It's amazing how little rust there is compared to a Golf or Jetta of the same year... The Bug needs to be safetied before it's back on the road since in came from Ontario... Went to junkyard this morning were I bought the Bug and they had white NB in the yard, there wasn't much to pick at except for a broken front valance...

Dudu's new home:

Removing what's left of the original valance:

Removed the headlight for polishing:

Broken valance I picked up for free! Along with the original valance, I'll be able to put together a custom valance!

Sure glad I held on to these parts from my first NB:

They do come in 16'', just check out American Racing: The Official Manufacturer Website of Custom Wheels

Cleaned up a wheel this morning, came out real nice with a center cap and bolt covers:

Cleaned up a second wheel today, also unseized the pass. side lock cylinder that will be swapped onto the driver side, test fitted the custom front valance, found some cheap touch-up paint and some spray paint.

Second wheel clean-up before:

After:

Polished one headlight, can u guess which one?!

Touch-up paint; Testors ''light yellow'' model paint, 95% match.

Spray paint; Rust-oleum's ''sun yellow'', 90% match.

Wet-sanded all the ugly touch-up paint on the hood done by the p/o. test fitting the new custom valance:

i really like Testor's model paint! that's what i used on all of Daisy Revolution's yellow touches... it matched the yellow vinyl perfectly! The hood already looks 100% better!! EDIT: *removed question that was already answered.. name is dudu*
