Default Factory Ipod adapter

was checking into the factory Ipod adapter available thru vw...I was wondering,it looks like they have you plug into the cd changer port, but what if your car HAS the cd changer in the trunk like my 2003 beetle does?Do you have to give up the cd changer?Any info would be great...thanks

We have one in both of our beetles. According to VW, You do have to give up your CD changer. I think someone on here rigged up some kind of splice so that they could use both, not sure who. I know it hasn't been an issue for me, as anything I want to listen to is on the ipod

Any luck on uncovering the splicing fix?

I had the adapter installed in my car and was told afterward that I might need to give up my changer. (If so, that would have been useful to know before the sale.)

Unfortunately, neither the CD changer or the iPod adapter works right now so I need to bring it back to the dealer.

you might want to check out enfig.com .... for those of you with the dealer installed one, might not be much help. But there are many choices of mp3 adapters for the stock radio.. any questions you have he will answer by phone or e-mail. Was real helpful when I purchased the one for the wifes car, good prices and quick shipping too.

I personally didn't see much point in keeping the CD changer one we had the ipod hooked up, but I know the question comes up quite often so if there is anything that will work to keep both he probably knows about it.
