Default Radio Removal Tools Question

Hey,

My New Beetle already has a JVC unit installed, but I want to install my Alpine unit.

Do I need the radio tools to do this when the stock CD player is not there?

Thanks!

We just put a JVC in my bug. I'm not sure what your set up looks like in your car, but for my own bug, in order to take out the radio you have to pry off the rounded VW face plate and then use these special things to take out the unit.

I still need to install the antenna connector for my radio, so I need to pull it out again. I can takes pics when I get the part so you can see if my set up is what you've got.

Removal keys are only needed to remove stock radios. The keys are inserted into small slots on each end of the radio. If the unit is an aftermarket install there shouldn't be any keys needed. Typically there is a face ring that clips around the head unit which, when removed, should reveal the rest of the radio bracket/bracing.
