Default Need Help Finding The Thread About Putting More Power To Monsoon From Aftermarket HU

Hey,

I need this ASAP, hopefully someone knows what im talking about

Ok, Bestbuy is putting my radio (Alpine 9856) in tomorrow, and I remember seeing a thread last night about splicing a certain wire to get 5V to the Monsoon amp.

Hopefully someone has this information for me. The guys at Bestbuy seemed to know what I was talking about, but I know I have seen it in writing around here.

Thanks!

Tim Klein

Also, I believe it had something with a carputer.

Basically my dash speakers are loud, and my door and rear speakers are low.

Bestbuy guy said something about added or splicing a wire to fix it.

Are you talking about the k-wire? As long as the installer has the correct harness vw->alpine you should have no issues. I would under no circumstances start splicing.

Yeah, they got it.

The amp had to be bypassed. The previous installer (before I owned the car) messed up bigtime and killed the door speakers and half the amp. This is also why the volume was so messed, the rear speakers would not get as high as the front.

Now it sounds fine, I think im skipping on the door speakers and adding a JL Audio 12" sub (just for fill).

Bummer the previous installer killed the amp. I guess the upside is that you get a chance to upgrade.
