Default XM install

Hey, XM rocks! I have XM installed in my other vehicle but not my Beetle yet.

Easiest way to install XM is to buy one of the receiver units and use the wireless FM modulator. All you have to do with that is power the unit and run wires. Of course, that method will give you the worst quality sound.

I have my unit in our minivan installed with a direct connect FM modulator so basically I tune my FM tuner to 88.1 and XM plays through that. Many of the units come with tape adapters too.

The best way in my opinion is to swap out the entire head unit with a XM ready receiver.

Check out this site, www.xmfan.com for tons of information on XM installs, products, etc.

Good luck. Once you go with Sat Radio, gets pretty hard to listen to commercial filled radio!

Ed

I installed mine last night in roughly an hour. I am running it under the weatherstripping. The only thing I have left to do is get the 2 foot of excess cord by putting it under the dash. I'll post some pictures of my current install.

No wires are showing on my install. Fits perfectly there.

How did you manage to get under the dashboard? This is my only problem so far.

I mounted a XM Roady in the same location. Depending on which side the wires come out, I used the left AC vent to run the wires. Simple install. Mounted the antenna on the front dash, near the window. Wireless FM modulator works great. Highly recommend if you want a simple add-on system.
