Default XDVD8182 iPod Controls

I really want this Dual XDVD8182 in-dash DVD player.

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-8KfQiLL...=070VD8182#Tab

Before I buy it, I wanted to know more about how it would fit in my car and the ipod controls. I went to ask the guy at Best Buy, and he knew absolutely nothing. I really don't want to cut my car in any way except maybe drilling a hole for the aux. Anyway, the Crushfield website says this will fit in my car, so I am assuming the dash won't need to be cut or any extra cables will be needed? Also, it mentions controlling the iPod through the touch-screen interface..so that means it would probably have to plug it into the dock connector. Will it charge my iPod too? And how does it hook up to the stereo? Is there just a hole in the unit that I plug a cord into or...Is it just a cord that sticks out of the unit that I can drill a hole out into my glove box and put my iPod in there? Or would it have to be under my dash? Thanks a lot..I know you guys have to be smarter than the bestbuy people!

If you order it from crutchfield they'll send you everything you need to have to install it in your beetle. As for the Ipod, it sounds like it has a plug in the back that you have to run a connector from to a place that you can use it doesn't mention giving you the cable either. I would imagine that if it used the dock on the ipod that it would charge it.

I emailed crutchfield and they said it would charge my ipod and i could let a wire hang in the glovebox for my ipod. I would really like to order the thing off ebay since it is buy it now for $430, but I am worried I won't know how to install it without the stuff crutchfield sends me...I just dont know if that is worth $150, or if I should order it and try to get adapter cables, etc. myself. I really have no idea what is required if i need the extra wiring harness and sleeve or what?

When i ordered mine from crutchfield they sent me detailed instructions, the mounting kit, the wiring harness, and correct tools to pul out the factory radio. If I were to order them seperate it would've been close to another 60 on top of the player, but the sent them for free. I also could not find the correct wiring harness or mounting kit from a store around here, so i would've had to order them online anyways. You can look online and price both the wiring harness and mounting kit and see if it's worth it to you.
