Default New Pioneer Model DEH2800MP am/fm/cd receiver/player, but need help!

Okay, I did it, it's installed by Car Toys, and a great job of installation they did....FM clarity and tone GREATLY improved. Much more drawing power than the stock unit. I expect the same quality when we play CDs. However, still have the am static/interference to about the same degree (maybe slight improvement due to the increased power.) I even had them ground the antenna at the deck, but it didn't help much. Now what I'd like to try is something I read on another thread under this discussion topic and that is to ground the antenna at its base. This requires removing or rolling back just enough of the headliner to gain access. the site membe that did this said it virtually "cured" his am interference prob. in his NB. My concern is how to undo enough of the headline w/o messing it up and getting it back to it looks like it was untouched. I welcome your suggestions on technic on how to do this. Many thanks to those who reply!

I believe there was a how-to on replacing the whole antenna and he didn't remove the headliner. I'm sure you can use those steps to get what you're looking for.

Many thanks for your reply and the link. Looks very good, step-by-step instrux. However, if you look at the pics, you'll see that he is taking off part of the headliner, but this shows you how to do it. Thanks! (Any other suggestions/technics out there?)

No, no part of the headliner was removed, only the plastic cover at the end. This snaps off and on with little effort, and no one can tell that the procedure have been done...

Okay, sorry, but I misused terminology. I was calling the whole thing "headliner," but I see what you mean now, and I am properly chastized....B-bomb

Our "winning" Seattle Mariners baseball games are broadcast on AM radio. If I am not home to see the game, at least I can listen to it.
