Excessive treble in Beetle audio?
Greetings,
Just bought my first NB last week. There was a factory cassette deck installed and a dead CD changer, so that had to be changed.
I am pretty knowledgeable about car audio, but something still isn't setting well with me. I just had a new after-market CD deck installed in my 2000 GLX, and the treble is so strong that it is ear piercing. It wasn't as strong with the factory system. I spoke with a Tweeter sales associate (whom I did not buy the unit from), and he said that the high treble is to be expected with this car. He said that there was no other deck or even a set of speakers that he could sell me that would be any different. He said that only installing a sub woofer would add enough bass to balance. We tried every bit of EQ, LPF, and DSO adjustments that could be made, but the sound is still treble dominated.
Here are my questions...first, has anyone else had this issue, and second, is there some kind of acoustical phenomenon in this car that causes the treble voices to speak louder than the mids or lows? I know there are a lot of hard surfaces in the car (leather, etc), but where are my mid/low frequencies???
