Default Radio Functionality

Hi There,

I have had an aftermarket stereo in my 2003 beetle since immediately after I bought it a couple years ago. The face plate failed so I decided to reinstall the factory head unit.

The factory radio does not power on or off with the ignition but can be powered on and off via the power switch on the unit. The unit will also automatically turn off after an hour regardless of the ignition position.

Is the unit supposed to turn on and off with the ignition? I would think so but I didn't use the factory unit enough when I purchased the car to know. If this unit is not functioning correctly does anyone know what the problem is and has this issue been seen before?

Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Keenan

My unit stays on when you turn off the ignition but turns off when you remove the key. You can also turn it on with the key out of the ignition. it then stays on for awhile then shuts off.
