Depends on where you're putting the speakers, if they're both going to be in the door then you should find a place there, but if you're going to use both the a-pillar and the door then I woudl suggest the dash for the crossover. The crossovers can be installed under those front pieces of the dash pretty easily. Just slide the upper part of the center console back and remove three screws near the windshield, then just pull up on the panel, it's held in by clips. This makes it easy to run the wire to the tweeter, but getting to the door isn't easy. I'm going to move my mid-range speakers to the upper portion of the dash so that i don't have any exposed wires between the dash and door.

I did a complete system in my 01 GLX. I replaced the front and rear with RF FanQ 6.5 comps and added a set of RF 3" in the dash to keep with the Monsoon locations. I ran a Clarion flagship headunit. I had the crossovers mounted in the front doors and padded for the front set. For the rear, hard wired crossovers were installed (caps and inductors.) The rear 1" tweeters were installed in the top plastic trim with custom covers made to mimic the from tweeter locations, rounded triangles, then painted to match the factory color and factory match cloth for the grills. Front and rears were connect to a RF 4ch amp. I also installed 2 - 12s in the trunk with a RF bd1000pro amp. All installed in a stealth fashion with only the radio sticking out.

Depends on whether you are going to use active or passive crossovers, with active units there is a lot more flexibility in terms of placement but with passive units, size can be an issue and they should be mounted relatively close to the driver components that they are connected to.
