Default Does the Beetle come with an amp?

I don't care much for the sound system in the Beetle. Does anyone know if it comes standard with an amp? Or has anyone replace the OEM amp with another while keeping the OEM radio?

The OEM Monsoon system is amplified and has an internal crossover network for the speakers. Keep the amp and go with an aftermarket deck. You might be pleasantly suprised.

The Beetle has a unique curve on the dash/cover where the radio goes. Will an aftermarket head unit look ok?

It depends on the radio you get. my old panasonic with the silver face stuck out like a sore thumb, but my clarion looked vary handsome.

I don't have a full shot, but this is what my alpine looks like. Might have to give up some looks for sound quality. I'd rather have the latter.
