Default Aftermarket deck install..... pics, smooth mount

So I think after losing 3 buttons on the factory deck, another 1 is going my battle to keep the OE dash look is about over. It is sad, but for the cost to replace the deck or finding a decent used OE deck that sooner or later will have the same problem just seams like a waste of time and money at this point.

With that said, I want to do the deck install as clean as possible (I really hate the look of most of the mounting kits for the NB). Just wondering if anyone else had smoothed their mounting kit into the center dash piece.

This is the one pic I have found, just wondering if anyone else has done this. I thought I had found at least one other picture of someone doing an install like this, but can't find it now.

My thought was to use this style kit,

and smooth it into the center dash before paint matching.

Any info or pics of an install like this or any other creative installs you might have come across would be helpful in deciding what direction to go with the rest of the audio install.

Thanks.

That wasn't that hard to do, i just used one of the aftermarket kits, installed it into the dash. Then took some body filler to hide the gaps, sanded it smooth. I also sanded the whole piece and repainted it.

That was my plan.... the center dash on my girls car already has a small blemish right above the radio anyways, so I am gonna have to do a lil work to it before painting anyways. Between that and the issues with the factory deck, figured I might as well just do it.
