Default Shouldn't Mp3 Hookup In My 06 NB Work Automatically?

Spent most of the morning reading the Mp3 threads in the Audio forum but can't find out the reason my brand new Christmas gift is not working. We bought a Creative Zen Mp3 player, transferred music to it (plays fine with headphones) but doesn't the player just hook up to the Beetle's auxillary jack on the dash (lower right panel). Our NB just has the regular cd player and no satellite. When we use the inline Creative Zen cable connected to the Beetle, nothing happens on AUX. Shouldn't this cable be all I need and the music should start playing? I have read where some people had to buy a separate cable? Why? Can someone help us hook it up? Anyone have trouble getting their units to play using the Aux jack? PM me or post here please.

Just for grins, did you turn up the volume on the Zen player? My Dell DJ didn't make any sound so I assumed it wasnt' working. When I turned up the volume, it worked. I think I had to turn up the volume a little on the head unit as well.

I got a new iPod - haven't connected it yet. I figure I will need to do the same thing - turn it up.

Yes, make sure that the volume is turned all the way up on your MP3 player. You can adjust the volume on your car stereo to your liking once it starts playing. It's realy simple and there is no need to buy anything extra. Mine is working just fine, but when I first hooked it up, the volume was too low and I cound not hear anything.

Good luck!
