Default iPod Adapter

Is the factory iPod Adapter (1K0 051 444) conpatible with 2002 New Beetle Turbo S equipped with the Monsoon Audio System which also has the CD changer in the trunk? If so, can someone please help with any DIY info? Thanks

It will work but you will lose the CD changer in the trunk. If that is a problem, there is another option. Go to www.enfigcarstereo.com and look at the adapters they have there. They are from another company and may let you keep your changer and have an ipod that can be controlled through the headunit.

^^

Yes. I guess the theory is the ipod is a glorified CD changer so having both would be redundant.

Thanks! I went to http://enfigcarstereo.com and order the iPod adapter. The PIE VW/PC-POD uses the cd changer plug. Great instructions on their web site. Works great! Don't need the changer since all my CDs are on the iPod. No FM mod hassle. Very easy to remove the CD changer & then create some playlist on the iPod to control song selection off the radio controls. Free shipping & best price I could find.

Just removed the CD Changer - uses the same plug from the changer. I decided to put the iPod adapter near the power amp and the iPod cable is long enough for what ever direction you decide.

Bill -

Check with enfig (see post above for the website). Just looking at their site, I would say the answer is no. However, I would call and talk to them to see if they know something that isn't posted on the site.

I was going to get the factory OEM iPod adapter and also ask the Dealer about the lost of the CD Changer. Basically, the radio uses the CD function buttons to represent iPod functions. All my CD's are on the iPod and selectable via the CD function buttons. You will need to create playlist on your iPod. I not sure why you would need the CD Changer anymore. You could always leave it physically there & just swap the plugs from the iPod adpater back to the Changer.
