Hey all, Was there any "standard" regarding audio equipment back in the 98 bugs or would it vary as much as the different trims? I guess specifically since I dont know if mine is going to have the changer or not.. if it doesnt I'm wondering if the wires are usually there and in place to just plug an OEM changer in and go.

Thanks!

yep, it's pre-wired. You can get the right panasonic changer and it will plug in and go. BTW, I think I have some mounting brackets I'm not in need of.

If you don't want a changer, you can swap the head unit for an indash CD from a newer year. FallinApartBoy has been tinkering w/a range of headunits, I think a monsoon(premium equip) unit will work too; but I'm not sure about the quality. The Monsoon system utilizes an amp and 2 extra speakers; I'm not sure how you'd want to retrofit that.

Only significant difference is MP3 playability. Otherwise no differences worth mentioning
