Default Just installed a Parrot CK3100

Have a 2005 GLS TDi with a monsoon (no CD changer, no satellite). I installed a bluetooth phone system that integrates into the monsoon. I also wired in my XM receiver to the AUX inputs on the back of the monsoon.

The surprising thing was that it was plug & play. I didn't have to modify anything. It works great. An incoming or outgoing call mutes the radio, the Monsoon says "phone" on it, and great quality sound comes out of the speakers.

I used a cell phone mount (that connects below the flower vase) to hold the little LCD for the system.

The only problem was to make everything fit in the center console. The Parrot CK3100 has two boxes that you have to fit.

I also had to cut the fiber cloth covering of the wire bundle so I could get the wires to thread down the back side of the Monsoon headset.

The Parrot system has a wire bundle that plugs directly into the back of the Monsoon headset, replacing the bottom two connectors (the power connectors and the speaker connectors). Then, the connectors you unplugged, plug into two more connectors on the Parrot. You don't even have to wire in the Tel - and Tel + lines into the headset. The Parrot does it all.

Sound quality is excellent. The Parrot system links with your bluetooth phone and downloads all of your phone numbers. You voice train a number of commands, so you can dial numbers by voice instead of taking your hands and eyes off the wheel. Now I say, "phone" and "home" and the radio volume mutes, the phone dials my home number, and I hear the sound through the sound system. People whom I have called say that the sound quality is excellent.

I bought my system off of eBay.

It took about 2 hours to install, but that was because I was wiring in my XM radio at the same time and had to do some soldering. The hard part was cramming all of the wires down below the radio and getting the connectors down the same hole back behind the radio head that the main wiring bundle goes through.

I fit the two Parrot "boxes" in the space below and behind the bottom of the black center console. There's room, but it's tight. You can pick one up on eBay new for just over $100. Worth it if you use a phone a lot on your commute.
