Default can temperature display be changed from centigrade to farinheight

I bought a used 2000 beetle tdi and do'nt have a book on it. Is it possibly to changethe temperature reading by the clock from metric?

IIRC with the car off press and hold both the 'H' & 'M' buttons together for a few seconds.

Or was it with the car on. Going from memory (which went long ago)

Doing that with the car off will change the time from 12 hour clock to 24 hour (military) time.

I guess I've turned my car European. I've got it metric with a 24.
