I also might get Sirius installed. I've seen it anywhere from the bud vase location to the grab handle, under the hazard button, in the cup holders... My favorite location, and possibly where I'll put mine, is the top left of the windshield where your oil change stickers usually go. That's assuming the unit isn't too big. That way the wire can run under the plastic piece next to the headliner all the way to the back of the car.

I have had two Sirius units, one stand alone, one in-dash with new head unit.
Both times, I had the selling store install them. The first time, it was a "plug and play" Blaupunkt, I liked it a lot. The new S has a new Sony, Sirius ready stereo. Both, had the antenna in the same spot.

I have an XM radio in my 2005 NBC; they make a mount that lets it sit in the left cup holder. It plugs into the radio under the dash and in the power outlet. No holes were drilled, and it works great and the left drink holder is no loss since it will not hold a drink!.
I love XM |

Since I've only had my NB for a week I haven't installed my satellite radio yet. But I've had the radio since it first came out. And with all the different designs of radios they have now you can put it pretty much anywhere. You can even mount it to the windshield in the NB, as most come with remote controls now. I installed mine in my last car, actually 3 times as I've upgraded radios. Did it myself and it isn't hard. You have to stick the magnetic antennae to the top, run the wire from that into the car (usually through the door jam) then either under the carpet and up through the dash or just straight through the dash to the satellite radio headunit. Then you have to run the power wire from the headunit down to the power outlet.
I love my satellite radio. So far my only cons are the exposed wires. On my last car I got it to run through the dash pretty well. So all you saw was about 2 inches of it comeing out of the sirius headunit, but we'll see how well that goes this time around.

Here are some shots of my Sirius install.
I used a Pro-Fit bracket to mount my radio. I am using the radio modulator, so there are no wires to hook up to the head unit...just tune the FM channel to match the unit. Hiding the wiring was probably the only labor intensive portion of the install.

I, also, used the Pro-fit for my Sirius tuner. It is extremely sturdy. The location at the left end of the grab bar makes it convenient, yet out of the way at the same time. It's made of steel...

Hey, Sorry to be bringing this thread back from the dead.... But I just got sirius and have installed it in my car, but the wires are kind of a mess right now on my dash.
I've seen photos of other peoples installs where the wires seem to be hidden in the dash, specifically the power adapter cable. How can i hide this and feed it to my radio which is on the left side of the steering wheel, stuck to the windshield? |

I mounted my radio down in the cupholder in front of the shifter. The antenna works very well on the rear parcel tray so you don't have to have an ugly antenna outside the car.

You can hide the wires with a vertical dash cover. Makes a very nice place to install the unit so that it doesn't leave any permanent marks on your New beetle interior. Did I mention it protects the factory dash from sunlight and dust.
