Default 02 Turbo S Monsoon Stereo

OK, I have a problem... I'm buying an 02 Turbo S, but the stock stereo (head unit,) has been replaced with a piece of junk. I want to return the head unit to stock with the stock monsoon tape player. I ordered one from LKQ online (used it is a piece of crap, and it's going back. The entire face of it looks like the plastic is breaking down. It is all gummy, and not from something on the surface, but a decomposition in the plastic itself; maybe in the sun forever. So, 2 problems: 1. I want a stock unit in great working (and great looking) order, and 2 (here's the toughy,) I'm certain the stock connector(s) have been cut off the harness when they installed the crappy aftermarket unit. (Where can I get the end connectors to solder and heat shrink back on to the harness(es), so it will plug back into the stock head unit?) Any help would be appriciated!
Thanks!
Chris

Thanks for the link! I see the bottom 2 connectors available there in a set, but not the top connector. Also, what about a replacement head unit? Does the stock 04 head unit with the built in cd player use the exact same 3 connectors? If I have to buy a new head unit from the dealer anyway, and it's just a matter of plugging it in, it would only make sense to go this route, as the car did not come with the 6 cd changer in the trunk. Any idea on price?

The CD changer is the smallest problem. There's lots of them coming up on eBay and on here. As long as the connector under the carpet in the trunk is present and accounted for, it's just plug and play. Though check the plug shape, because I think they might vary.
And I think there's a difference in LCD display color on TS models (white and red as opposed to red and blue). Which one are you getting?

I've seen all the stock 6 cd changers for the trunk on ebay. They are quite common. My issue is with needing a good stock monsoon head unit for the dash, and the connectors that plug into it being cut off the wiring harnesses. As I'd mentioned, because I need to find a good head unit anyway, I'd even consider one of the '04 and later monsoon cd head units (as opposed to the tape player head unit,) if it all plugs right in, using the same 3 connectors.....

The new CD unit uses the same plugs. I switched mine. Entered the code and everything worked.

What does "entered the code" mean? I plan to get a changer, but know nothing about them. If there is a thread about this already, kindly point me there.

Default Radio Code

When they say enter the code, they mean the security code required by the radio. If you are putting in a new VW radio or had to take yours out for some reason, before the radio will work, you need to enter a code. You can look in your manual in the radio area and there should be a little card telling you what your 4 digit code is and how to enter it. The code can also be found like inside you trunk area under the carpet I believe, on a little sticker kinda thing.

I bought a replacement head unit for my 03 TS, but ended up trading the car in on an NBC before I installed it. I've got the security code as well. I've never tried it, but it appears to be in great condition. You can have it for $50, and don't have to pay until you've hooked it up and made sure it works. I can email pics if you like.
