Question Auto Reverse

My 98 NB comes with the cassette deck which I'm still using for mp3.

The only thing that bugs me is the auto reverse, it automatically switches to side B when NB runs on a bump or something. It's pretty annoying when you're enjoying a song, wait 5 to 8 seconds, back to side A. And it happens way too frequently to make me ask this (not sure if it's been asked b4).

Is there a way to disable auto reverse?

That and the auto skip are rather annoying.

What brand adapter do you use? My brother had better luck with the cheaper ones than the more expensive.

Default Sonic Impact

I was going to get a Sony, but a local warehouse outlet has this brand for 10 bucks so I gave it a try.

The sound quality is not bad. It just kept switching sides.

On the package of the adapter it says "if your deck has auto reverse, sound may be distorted" I really don't know if it's the player or the adapter that causes the problem. If there's one way to disable auto reverse, I think I'd go for it.

I have a cheapie Sony (the black one) and I've only ever had a problem with the adaptor for my iPod not working when it's severely cold out.

I'm not sure what options you have built into your deck, but if there is a way to turn it off i know where to find it.

With the radio off hold down the scan button for a few seconds.
This will bring up a menu of different options, just use the volume knob to change them, and push the scan button to switch between the different options.

Maybe this will help.

I'm going to try this tomorrow! I hope there's a way to get rid of the auto-skip. I have a couple of tapes where that option ruins everything.

When I have my iPod paused or if a song goes too quiet for my Bug to handle it'll switch sides. It pisses me off because after a few switches it spits the tape out and messes up my lil ghetto wiring I have going on.

I'm going to try the thingy posted above about holding down the scan button and see if that helps tomorrow.

This didn't work for me! What am I doing wrong? I tried it with the car on and the car off. Do I have to have a Monsoon to do this, or does it work with the base-model? Is it because I have a '99? I can only get a menu with the radio on, and it's for auto volume and CD Mix options. Do I have to have a tape in the deck to access those options?

Help me, help me!

I tried it again, this time with a tape in. Either it wasn't an option on the '99 non-monsoons, or I need to VAG it and change a setting that way before it'll recognize that I have a tape player.

Thanks for trying, maybe it'll help someone else!

I'll still try the VAG-Com, though.
