I just bought a 2000 Beetle, It has the Monsoon Stereo, and I would thing that would mean that it should sound pretty good. But the door speakers are not working, I am assuming since both don't work at all and the dash speakers do, that it is either the head unit, or somebody put an aftermarket one in at one time and did not hook it up right. How do I remove the factory stereo so I can check the wires, or replace it if it is bad. Or if there is anything else tyou think I should check first. That would be great. Oh, and there ARE speakers in there, I can see them through the grills. Thank You.

You need radio removal keys. You might be able to get the dealer or a local stereo shop to pop it for you.
The key looks like a butter knife with a notch cut out. If you're desparate, you can use the ends of a jig-saw blade (wrapped with a twist of electrical tape for protection) to remove it :-)
