Question Should I replace my in deck stereo.

My 6 disc cd changer in my arm rest is messing up. I am thinking about just swipeing the deck with a different brand cause VW Wants to charge 800$ for a cd disc changer that goes in the arm rest. Any one know how to fix my cd changer or if I should get a new system. The disc skips like crazy. And if I get a new deck will I be able to use my Monsoon amp?
